This is the touching moment that a teenage girl hugs her boyfriend to say goodbye before he died. Blake Ward, 16, got into difficulties in the sea while on holiday with his family at Tywyn beach, Wales, last Tuesday. He was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool after being pulled from the water by the RNLI and was treated until Saturday morning when his life support machine was turned off.
His girlfriend, Stephanie Ray, 15, was able to give Blake a final hug before he lost his fight for life. Her mother, Becky, said: ‘Blake, our beautiful, brave, kind-hearted, clever boy sadly passed away at 7.03 this morning.
Even though he hadn’t been part of our family for long his loss has left us beyond devastated and heartbroken. ‘Sleep tight sweet angel you truly were too good for this world. We will never forget you.
Blake, from the Dudley area of the West Midlands, has been remembered as a ‘loving, caring person who would do anything for anyone’. A family friend said: ‘He was a lovely, bright young lad, gone too soon. My heart goes out to all the family.’
Hillcrest School and Community College head teacher April Garratt said: ‘Blake was a wonderful young man, his teachers would say of him that he was bright, funny and kind hearted. ‘It is such a tragedy when a young life is taken especially in these circumstances.
