Three people are dead and 20 injured after a van plowed into a group of people in Germany.
Police say the driver fatally shot himself after smashing into the crowd in the western city of Muenster.
German police said six of the 20 people are in a severe condition and are not looking for any other suspects.
The driver has been named locally as Jens Handeln, 48, a German national who reportedly had ‘psychological problems’ and no links to any terrorist organizations.
Locals were warned to ‘avoid the area near the Kiepenkerl pub’ where a large-scale police operation is underway.
It’s been one of the first days of spring in the German city, with many enjoying the pleasant weather outside.
Police say a suspicious object has been found in the van, and they’re still examining what kind of an object it is and whether it’s dangerous.
A spokeswoman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel said ‘our thoughts are with the victims and their families’.
Muenster mayor Markus Lewe told reporters that ‘all of Muenster is mourning this horrible incident’.
‘Our sympathy is with the relatives of those who were killed,’ he added. ‘We wish the injured a quick recovery.’
