Cardi B announced in a profane tweet last Friday that she wanted Nigerian citizenship, Nigerians and Ghanaians engaged in an international war in the replies.
Cardi’s tweet criticized President Trump after the U.S. killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike. Fed up with Trump’s leadership, she expressed a desire for dual-citizenship. Cardi, whose legal name is Belcalis Almanzar, grew up in the Bronx. Her father is from the Dominican Republic and her mother is from Trinidad and Tobago.
But Cardi’s tweet was just the beginning. The real fun was in the replies. Ghanaians mocked neighboring Nigeria for its consistent power outages, tweeting, “Hope u have a generator to power your house bcus they dont have light but we do.”
