EMILIANO Sala’s cause of death has been revealed by the coroner after the Cardiff City star’s body was recovered from the plane crash scene in the English Channel.
It was revealed his body was identified through fingerprints, and his cause of death was head and trunk injuries.
Investigators believe it will take up to a year to establish exactly what happened to Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson, who has not yet been found.
Cardiff’s record £15 million signing was flying to his new club after saying goodbye to his former teammates in France.
He boarded the Piper Malibu light aircraft, which then vanished from radar as it flew over near the Channel Islands on January 21.
Mr Ibbotson’s wife Nora told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “We’re still holding on a little bit. Obviously we do know he’s gone but we want him back.
“We’re a very close family, he supported us all, he was our rock.
“We can’t leave him out there on his own. Until we’ve tried to do everything we can, this is why we’ve done the appeal.”
